Joy Weiss

Composer – The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe

Wow – megaflashback! This was a collaboration – I think Carla Flamer and Lorne Shusterman were my main coconspirators. What a treat to hear it all these years later!

I played a lot of guitar (campus coffeehouse stuff) and wrote a lot of music while I was in college, and continued some when I returned to Montreal to work, but the more I worked the less I played, although I kept up some minimum level until ’02 . Along the way, I acquired numerous electric and acoustic guitars, a keyboard and drumkit. and played them all with some skill. At the end of ’02, I had just wound down a company and was preparing to take some indefinite period of time off, thinking this would be my big chance to play for real. Within a few weeks of my ‘musical sabbatical’ I broke a glass vase, a shard of which slit one of the 2 frail nerves that make our (left) hands work. I have reasonable use of my hand but not enough strength or feeling to play very well, so I stopped completely.

I too have a binder full of songs that I may open again some day….that you have done so is sweet and inspiring, so thanks for that gift.

Warm regards…Joy
